1980: Ima-Tenko started performing at home and abroad with BYAKKO-SHA (a butoh group, founded 1980).
1994: Ima-Tenko started solo activities after BYAKKO-SHA was disbanded.
1999: Started offering butoh workshops in Kyoto to help inspiring stage dancers to build their basic physical abilities.
2000: Formed Ima-Tenko + Kiraza through the experience of the workshops.
2005: Performed and offered workshops in 4 cities in Spain, France and Germany during the Ima-Tenko + Kiraza Butoh Dance Tour in Europe.

The concept of Ima-Tenko + Kiraza is to be avant-garde and to revive the power of “Tamafuri”(the rising of souls as seen in ancient Japanese entertainment arts).
The company aims for a new phase of dance that goes beyond traditions and modern butoh dance. The combination of Ima-Tenko’s traditional taste and the unbearable cuteness of Kiraza’s young dancers are exquisite.
One of their performances, which was a great success in Europe in 2005, expresses the existence of human life energy; it is full of surrealistic beauty, fear and a sense of humor.

Ima-Tenko + Kiraza perform everywhere; inside or outside, old and new theaters, and beyond borders. The company can also present performances and seminars at schools and universities.
