Keisuke Sakurai is a graduate of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters, Keio University.

Major Publications
Coauthor of [Nishi-Azabu Dance Kyoshitsu] (Hakusuisha Publishing) and [Dancing All Night] (NTT Publishing), both with Seiko Ito and Shin’ichi Oshikiri, and co-editor of Noboru Ito's [Supah Bodi wo Yomu](Reading the Super Body) (Magazine House) with Shin’ichi Oshikiri.
Keisuke Sakurai is involved in a wide variety of dance-related activities, including orgaizing [ Azumabashi Dance Crossing ], holding lectures and workshops, acting as a judge or committee member at dance competitions, and as a composer, writing music for collaborative works such as Jareo Osamu + Terada Misako’s
[O[JAZ]Z.] Sakurai has contributed writings to [The Asahi Shimbun] and [The Sankei Shimbun newspapers] and to magazines such as [Taiyo, Waseda Bungaku, Eureka, Bijutsu Techo, Studio Voice, Inter Communication, PT, Ballet, Artscape, Bacchus, Invitation, Performing Arts] and others.
[“The Body as Dance, Introduction to The Study of Butoh-logy”] in Yukio Waguri’s CD-ROM [Butoh Kaden] (JUST SYSTEM, 1998).
Dance-related Activities
Sakurai has given lectures at the Symposium of the Chang-Mu Dance Festival in Seoul, Korea (1998), The International Conference of Studies on Butoh and Dance of the 20th century “Return to Hijikata” at the University of Rome, La Sapienza (2001) and The Conference "Katachi wo Koete"in Festival[Danza Urbana] at Borogna(2006). He was a judge at Toyota Choreography Award 2002,2004 and2006.
