1991: Started solo dance performance and workshop activity in Osaka.
1996: Formed Esqui:nouver, a contemporary dance group in Kanazawa.
2002: Became associate professor at Joshibi University of Art and Design and began exploring further body expressions and performances.
2003: Received the outstanding performance award at the International Theatre Festival in Moldova.
2006: Left the university and started focusing on her dance activities including collaborative productions with artists from various fields.

The concept of KITAO's performance is “to stir the inner thoughts and ideas that are often idle.” While delving the hidden truth about physical sensibility, she incorporates “corporeal thinking”into her performance. Fascinated with the idea that a body is a phenomenon, she expresses physical reactions triggered by feelings as “corporeal matters” in her solo/collaborative performances around the world.

KITAO Hiroyo devotes time and energy toward developing performances, somesthetic and collaboration works in small theatres and open-use venues (including , cafes, galleries, or entrance areas of any building ) that allow for intimacy with audiences. She is willing to participate in any festivals and projects around the world, where she can perform and offer workshops.

- Body Conditioning Work "Dance Physiotherapy"
In this workshop, participants will be shown “development of self-body care” and “recognition of body potential” through bio-dynamic theory that focuses on the humans' subtle reaction and self-healing, and through an applied kinesiology.

Through exercises using mental and physical interconnections such as “memory and physical senses” and “unknown images and physical senses”, participants focus their imagination and body movements to express themselves.
