Juri aspires to create a form of corporeal expression that reflects current social phenomena through the human body and mind. From a technical foundation in the traditional Kyushu dance Tsukushi-mai, and flowing together with aspects of nature such as wind and water and rustling trees in his consciousness, Juri forms his solo butoh as well as the butoh choreography for about ten other performers. He also performs at music venues around Japan with ethnic, jazz and classical musicians.
