"Close" is executed by the batch for all windows that are opening now.
The window after that doesn't shut when canceling by the preservation confirmation.

When the tab mode and making to the group are set, only the window of a present group becomes an object.
The difference of Close Group of the file menu the document's remaining when "When the file is shut (Untitled), the document is left" is effective (Untitled).
