Profile
1989: Moved to the New York City to study at the Martha Graham School, thereafter, learned release techniques at the Movement Research.
2000: Received an invitation to perform at the Lyon Dance Biennale.
2001 - : Began teaching workshops in Kyoto.
2002 - : Worked and performed in collaboration with artists such as dancer Masami Yurabe and music group mama! milk.
2004 - : Started organizing Oto no Kakera (Fragments of Sound), an improvisation performance event with guitarist take-bow.
2005: Joined activities by Dance & People, and often served as a host of its performances.
Concepts and Goals
In both improvisation and prepared performances, she creates her movements by grasping the moment.
Regardless of traditional dance forms, Kuroko has searched for her own unique dance style.
She is also inspired by artists in other fields and as well as people with different physical features.
Future Plans
Kuroko hopes to pursue her unique performances regardless of spaces and styles. She is also interested in off-stage performances, and is inspired by encounters with those who have various physical conditions and ages through dance activities.

Workshops and Other Activities

  • This workshop is planned to help understand the body structure and its movements.
    Taking notice of each participant's tendencies through an improvisational framework, we focus on actually connecting one's body awareness and movement.
