Ikuya Sakurai

1984 - 95 Studied under Kasai Akira.
1987: Graduated from Nihon Art University （majored in art with a concentration on film direction）. Awarded Honorable Mention at Munich Student Film Festival.
1994: Presented first dance work De Profundis.
1995: Graduated first level training in Eurythmie; was one of the first students to be trained in this emerging style.
1997: Founded production company SAKURAI IKUYA / CROSS-SECTION. At present, more than 30 original works have been created.
2006: Invited to participate in "a sul" 10th International Contemporary Dance Festival in Portugal.

To re-examine the theories of Butoh in expanding his range of physical expression.
From 1995, in addition to stage activities, began to open regular class for dance and Eurythmie i in Suginami, Tokyo. From 2002, began choreography at NHK, for educational program "kotoba". Opened workshops at Mito Art Museum, Arugabe Performing Arts Center / in Portugal.
