History / Profile
Dance Box was started in 1996 and based at Torii Hall in Osaka as a dance revitalization project focused on artists living in the Kansai area. Approximately thirty dance performances and workshops are held annually.
Became a nonprofit organization in 2002 and established Art Theater dB as an Osaka municipally-run privately-operated entity.
Concepts and Goals
Through the management of its theater and dance information center, and its thirty-or-so dance performances and workshops each year, Dance Box is attempting to create an environment in which exceptional artists and artworks can develop and audiences can come in contact with many forms of dance. Dance Box is also developing a wide range of projects such as international exchanges introducing dance from around Asia, workshop programs and regional community programs.
