Concepts and Goals
M-laboratory is exploring the new forms of body/performance expression developing in Japan and is continually expanding its network of artists and dancers and cultivating new audiences for contemporary dance.
M-laboratory`s works are rich with hard questions tossed at our contemporary society, culture and life circumstances, and are sometimes surreal, sometimes full of passion or poignancy, sometimes absurd. These performance works are attempts at abstracting and highlighting "the whole and the individual" through compositional references to society and solitary people.
Future Plans
M-laboratory is looking into performing in various locations, including galleries and museums, and exchanging through dance with local people outside of Tokyo (where the group has been very active).
M-laboratory hopes to hold performances and workshops for small groups in small theaters as well as in non-theater spaces such as abandoned houses, museums, multi-use spaces and live music venues.
