Concepts and Goals
Selenographica is pursuing a dance that is focused on searching movements and particular textures of the body.
The group also carries out a wide range of dance activities focused duet performances. The duo’s style is to recall things that are apt to be forgotten in daily life by their expressive body movements.
In recent years, the duo has performed in various locations and is always trying to improve their work. In 2003, Selenographica started the Kyoto Contemporary Dance Institute Center with martial artists, musicians, photographers and other artists.
Future Plans
Selenographica hopes to find new ways of presenting performances, for example, long-runs (repeat performances of popular pieces, scheduled in separate programs up to a week each), or in-residence performance projects outside of the Kansai area (with rehearsals open to the public, and including workshops). They would like to present these performances at locations such as resort areas where both audience and dancers are free from their daily activities.
