1990: Strange Kinoko Dance Company founded.
2000: Presented Frill (mini) and received the Special Prize at the Millennium Arts Festival and the New Talent Award from the Dance Critics Society of Japan.
2001: Performed Frill (mini) at Avignon Festival Off in France.
2003: Performed Flower Picking at Biwako Hall and Kurashiki Geibunkan Hall.
2004: Performed Flower Picking at Claska in Tokyo.
2006: Created dance piece Not Quite Right in collaboration with Australian artist Justin Caleo durring an art residency in Melbourne, then brought it to Japan for performances.
With the goal of researching dance, Strange Kinoko Dance Company attempts to approach dance from many different angles to lay the foundation for an original body of performance work.
The company makes use of a wide range of performance venues, from theater spaces to museum courtyards, gallery spaces, cafes, warehouses and building entrance halls. Strange Kinoko Dance Company hopes to share the experience, exploration and joy of dances that are unique to each place and to each body.
