1975: Born in Tokyo
1997: Graduated from Waseda University, First School of Literature (Theatre Arts Major).
2004: Completed doctoral course at University of Tokyo Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology (Aesthetics).
He is a member of Japanese Society for Aesthetics, International Association for Aesthetics, and Japanese Society for Dance Research.
2001: Began writing for the bimonthly magazine Ballet.

Muto conducted a research program, granted by the Asian Cultural Council from 2005 to 2006, in Southeast Asia and New York.
Served as Facilitator for 3rd Asian Dance Conference in 2007.
