Dance-related Activities
Osamu Nakanishi has written theater columns for Tokyojin (Tokyoite) magazine and Jamci theater bulletin and currently runs the Engeki Peji (Theater Page) website for recommending interesting theater works.
After Jamci ceased publication, he changed the name of his column to Shimokitazawa Journal and published it on his own homepage. Nakanishi also writes for other magazines such as Higeki Kigeki (Tragedy/Comedy), Theater Arts, and the bimonthly Kansai-area free paper P.A.N. Press.
Prospects for Japanese Contemporary Dance
Osamu Nakanishi is interested in the potential for the creative expression of artists and companies such as Nibroll, Strange Kinoko Dance Co., Jareo Osamu + Terada Misako, Idevian Crew and Takeshi Yazaki, whose work depicts slack or childlike bodies as reflections of a contemporary Japanese body-sense, to be accessible to audiences overseas as well as in Japan for their expression of something universal, as in butoh or the work of Saburo Teshigawara.
