1980: Started employment at Toho Co., Ltd., Theater Department, Publicity and Planning Division.
1990: Was appointed vice secretary of Japan Center of Pacific Basin Arts Communication （PARC）.
2000: Founded State-of-the-Arts, a private performing arts coordination office.
2002: Received current appointment as professor in the Faculty of Management at Atomi University.
2003: Received current appointment as chairman of the board of ST Spot Yokohama.　
Dance-related Activities
Shuji Sota's main areas of research are nonprofit art organizations, arts management and cultural policy. He serves as the chairman of the board of ST Spot in Yokohama, which presents the ST Spot Dance Series.
