1988: AI HALL opened. Built by the city of Itami for the cultivation, appreciation and creation of theater, dance and other performing arts.
1990: Started the AI HALL Dance Collection project.
1992: AI HALL management entrusted to the Itami Culture Foundation.
2006: Followed the government's policy of introducing private resources into public enterprises, the management and operation stayed with The Foundation.
While operating as a public venue, AI HALL has always invited producers from the private sector to produce and present contemporary theater and contemporary dance projects.
In addition to presenting ground-breaking performing arts works from both Japan and overseas, AI HALL is very active organizing a variety of workshops and outreach programs. Current programs are designed to cover a wide range, including projects with both the experienced and the inexperienced, and intensive workshops for choreographers.
When we contemplate the role of dance in society, and in connection with a local community, we consider artists as the most important tools. We focus on nurturing them and seek ways of making the exitement and potential of performing arts accessible to a wide range of people. We would like to collaborate with those in the fields of education and welfare.
