History / Profile
As a part of Mie prefectural Cultural Promotion, Art NPO presented Visual & Live Musical “AQUA” in March 2005, and has been offering a workshop “Learn from the Professional!” since October 2006. From April through to October 2006, the organization held “'06 AQUA PROJECT” for the Mie prefectural Culture Festival. Other activities include art forums, collaborative projects with marine-related institutions, environmental NPOs, NPOs that assist disabled people, and “AQUA”, a contemporary musical with artistic director Yoshikazu Yokoyama. Its latest project is “Art Volunteer Development” program is funded by Yokkaichi city.
Concepts and Goals
Art NPO Human Theatre aims to promote comprehensive cultural and art activities by offering education for young artists, working on collaborative activities with various NPO groups and authoritative bodies, and producing performing arts works. Working from a basic concept of coexistence, Art NPO Human Theatre aims to create a high order cross-genre fusion and to develop integrated art works that are applicable to a borderless society. Art NPO Human Theatre advocates the form known as contemporary Musical. The rich legacy of our forbears is researched and reworked into rational techniques that fulfill a variety of requirements.
Future Plans
Art NPO Human Theatre aims to establish theater space for their artist in residence program. It also provides city revitalizing projects using their strength as an art based NPO.

 

Current and Continuing Programs
Performance: AQUA PROJECT
This is an art project to promote collaborative productions together with marine-related institutions and environmental NPO groups. With the theme “AQUA”, a symbol of life - environment and coexistence, the projects focus on the effort to tackle environmental issues and bring them into performances.

Workshop: Research and Training Class
This is an integrated training class for the basic techniques required for all forms of body movement performances. Working mainly with university students, artists of the future are nurtured here. No experience required.
Other program: Art Volunteer Development Project
The program includes carrying out art forums and seasonal artist meetings. It is especially focused on the establishment of a common language. This program uses master rhythm scores for efficient collaboration works among artists beyond genre.
