History / Profile
Biwako Hall Foundation was established with funds granted by Shiga Prefecture on April 1, 1996. Biwako Hall opened on September 5, 1998. The Hall consists of 3 halls; Main Theatre with quadruple stage that was the first to be built in the western Japan, Theatre that is suitable for theatrical and dance performances, and Ensemble Hall that is good for chamber music. Biwako Hall Foundation was designated as authorized administrator of Biwako Hall in April 2005.

Future Plans
Biwako Hall continues to present Japanese and foreign companies that can perform at an international level. The foundation keeps on promoting innovative dance performances, and aims to be a leading theater for cotemporary dance.
