Concepts and Goals
Due to its composite artistic nature as a free form of expression that can harness the potential of elements of music, video, painting and other fields, contemporary dance provides the basis for the majority of the Foundation's performance and workshop projects. The Foundation hopes the appeal of dance can be conveyed to more and more people by carrying out performing arts appreciation and production activities, and that such activities will thrive and take on lives of their own in regions throughout Japan.

Current and Continuing Programs
PerformanceWorkshopOutreachOther program:Dance Generate Fukuoka
This program includes long-term workshops for creation and performance, short-term workshops for beginners and one-off workshops for children at elementary schools. Instructors give demonstrations during their workshop, and performances are followed by question and answer sessions with the performers.
WorkshopOutreach:Art Exchange Special Express
This program is intended to encourage independent regional art activity development and welcomes people of all ages to come in contact with art and culture. Participatory workshops for local citizens are held at city facilities and schools and feature prominent Japanese and foreign artists.
PerformanceWorkshop:Ride the Wave! Dance Wave Fukuoka Series
Contemporary Dance Weeks featuring performances and workshops by dancers from Japan and overseas are held three times annually at Pumplaza Hall. Through this program we hope to enliven local contemporary dance activity with a multifaceted approach by providing regular opportunities to appreciate dance and to experience the actual creation of dance.
