13th April 1941 - After the disasters that the First Greek Army suffered in Albania, General Wilson decided to withdraw all British forces to the Thermopylae line.
New Zealanders of the 21st Battalion dig in on the Platamon Ridge, a high escarpment that blocks the coastal pass.
Having defeated 2nd Panzer Division's first attack the previous day, The New Zealand commander had been told that the terrain ahead of his positions were entirely unsuitable for tank movement, and that he need expect only infantry attacks.
However, this was not the case.
On April the 16th, the 2nd Panzer Division repeated their attack, this time employing over 100 tanks with full infantry support...

1941年4月13日
ギリシャ軍第1軍がアルバニアにおいて大損害を受けたことを受けて、
ウィルソン将軍は全イギリス軍をテルモピュレ線まで撤退させることを決定した。
第21大隊のニュージーランド軍は海岸沿いの道路を遮る絶壁断崖であるプラタモンの尾根に塹壕陣地を構築した。
先日のドイツ軍第2装甲師団の最初の攻撃を撃退したことから、
ニュージーランド軍の司令官は陣地前方の地形は戦車部隊の行動には全く適さないこと、
およびに歩兵のみでの攻撃を想定しておく必要があるということを語っていた。
しかし、実際はそうはならなかった。
4月16日、ドイツ軍第2装甲師団は歩兵による十二分な支援の元、
100輌以上の戦車を投入し再攻撃に出たのだった…。

ニュージーランド軍のP14 Sniperキットは地面に埋まっていて見えない。
F5kp4の弾薬箱の近く、低い壁の北東角付近にある。
