August 7th - September 19th 1944:
The city of Brest with it's U-Boat pens was of vital importance to the German Atlantic fleet.
For 28 days the city was bombed by 705 Allied attack planes and bombers, destroying the once beautiful city with over 360 tons of bombs.
On 17th of September the 2nd US Infantry Division moved into the western part of the city, in which the German defenders put up heavy resistance from MG nests and fortified positions.
The house to house fighting inside the ruins begun, where any crossing of a street could have deadly consequences.

Uボートの修理ドックを有するブレスト市はドイツ海軍にとって不可欠な最重要拠点であった。
市は28日間にわたり705機にのぼる連合軍の攻撃機および爆撃機によって360tを超える爆弾を投下され、
かつての美しい街並みは見る影もなくなっていた。
9月17日アメリカ軍第2歩兵師団は市西部へと突入、
ドイツ軍守備隊は大量の機関銃と強化陣地をもって激しく抵抗した。
廃墟となった街の中で、通りを渡ることですら死を招きかねないような家から家への戦闘が始まったのだ。
