How To: Alchemist

How To Use the Alchemist

The Alchemist is a new feature to The Realm! The following guide will help you learn how to use it!

Upon entering the Nexus, you will see the Alchemist to the right of the Mystery Box NPC. In the bottom right hand corner, click Play to begin.

You must first decide “How Will You Play?”. You can either Play for the specified amount of Gold, or use a Fortune Token which can be obtained for Free (one way to obtain this is from the Tinkerer). Also note that mousing over the Orb in the middle will show a list of all current items that are obtainable.

After determining which currency you’d like to use, click the appropriate button. Doing so will start the first phase which will choose 3 items from the current list and “shoot” them into the 3 outer orbs.

After revealing the 3 items in the orbs, the orbs will spin and shuffle the items. You will then be given 10 seconds to choose one of the orbs. Should you fail to click on one of the orbs before the countdown ends, one of them will be automatically chosen for you at random.

After clicking on one of the orbs (or if one is automatically chosen for you), the prize will be revealed. You will then be given the choice to either Spin Again for the specified amount of Gold in the “Play for” button, or Return (which will start the Alchemist over).

Clicking Spin Again will cause the remaining 2 orbs to shuffle and you are once again given 10 seconds to choose one. Once a choice is made, the Alchemist will automatically start over.

Note: All prizes are sent to your Vault.

How To Use the Tinkerer (Daily Quests)

The Tinkerer/Daily Quest system is a new feature to The Realm! The following guide will help you learn how to use it!

To the right of the Mystery Box NPC and above the Alchemist, you will see the entrance to the Tinkerer (Daily Quest Portal). In the bottom right corner, click Enter.

Once at the Tinkerer, click See Offers to see the current Daily Quests.
Note: You cannot trade, or drop items in this area!

On the left side, you will see your current Daily Quest (Tier). The description will include the following:

Which quest of the day you are on (First, Second, etc.)
The item the Tinkerer wants you to bring him (This is highlighted in green)

On the right side, you will see the current reward the Tinkerer is offering upon completion of your current Daily Quest.

Once you obtain the item, click and drag it over to the box with the green “glow”. Upon dropping the item in the box, you will notice the Turn In button will have a green outline. Click the Turn In button to complete the quest.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the quest! Click the OK button to continue.

Note: At any time should you want to close the Tinkerer, click the X in the top right corner

FAQ - Daily Quests and The Alchemist Game

Q: What happens if I disconnect after I start the Alchemist game?

A: In the case of disconnects, we have made a fail safe. You will automatically be rewarded one item from the three pulled for your minigame.

Q: Can I stockpile tokens over 02:41:40

A: No. There are a few specific rules regarding Tokens:

• Tokens are currently only available through Daily Quests and the Tinkerer.
• Initially, Daily Quests and The Alchemist will only be "LIVE" for a few days at a time.
• When The Alchemist game is over, you will not be able to use any saved tokens. They will reset to 0 when the next Alchemist Game is available.
• The Daily Quests will end 24 hours before The Alchemist Game ends. This will provide everyone a 24 hour window to spend their remaining tokens.
• The MAXIMUM amount of tokens that you can carry around is 10.

Q: Will there be other ways to get Tokens to play The Alchemist Game?

A: Currently we're planning on just releasing these Tokens via Daily Quests. However, we are interested in feedback regarding the Tokens.

Q: What about other content like dungeons and class balance?

A: New content like dungeons are currently in development, and Class Balance is still ongoing. We’ve increased testing capacity, so we'll be able to better manage the testing of new content and features in the future.

Q: Will there be other rewards besides Tokens?

A: Yes, at some point in the future. We have tested gifting all kinds of different rewards for completing quests, but initially the rewards will be Tokens for The Alchemist Game.

Q: When do daily quests reset?

A: 5pm PACIFIC TIME each day. Once you finish the Quests for the day you will have to wait until the next "day". The rewards themselves will likely stay the same, but the item that is being requested can be different every day.

Concerning Daily Quests and The Alchemist

Hey Realmers!

I wanted to address a few things with concerning The Tinkerer (Daily Quests) and The Alchemist.

The Tinkerer (Daily Quests)

The Tinkerer has been closed as of today. Do not be alarmed as it will be back in the near future! Going forward, we will let you know when it will be going back up and when it will be taken down.

The Alchemist

We have encountered an issue concerning the tool we use for The Alchemist and are working diligently to remedy this problem. After the issue has been remedied, we will put The Alchemist back up. We understand that many of you may still have Fortune Tokens to use. As a result, when we bring the Alchemist back up, your Fortune Tokens will NOT reset. Please understand that under normal circumstances this would not be the case.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and greatly appreciate your patience throughout this process. We will keep you updated on our progress!

Release 23.0.1 is now Live!

Release 23.0.1 This is just a small push for a couple of clean up things and support for upcoming changes to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

The Alchemist is back for 24hrs (starting 5pm PT 8/26) and updated - please read!

Hey Realmers!

As many of you are aware, at approximately 5pm PT this Sunday, August 24th, the Alchemist feature was disabled prematurely. As a result, we have since disabled the Daily Quests available through the Tinkerer.

We’ll be bringing the Alchemist game back up today (8/26/14) for approximately 24 hours. This will allow the players that still have tokens a chance to use them. Please note, that this has been slightly different than how we normally hope to run the Alchemist and Daily Quests. Normally the Daily Quests event will end, followed 24 hours later by the Alchemist event ending.

In addition, while the events were offline, we’ve reviewed the prize pool and the effect that it has had on the player economy. Future iterations of the Alchemist will be updated to reflect our findings, as we don't want to inundate the economy, but still want players to receive prizes that make playing an enjoyable experience.

We want this system to be fair and fun for everyone, especially if we’d like to keep these types of events going for years to come.

So, thank you all. Thank you for playing with the Daily Quests and Alchemist, thank you for playing our game, and sorry for any confusion while we work out the kinks!

NOTE: The Daily Quests have NOT been activated again, just The Alchemist to allow players that had leftover tokens the time to spend them. New Daily Quests will be available in the near future.

Release 23.1.0 is now live!

1) Fixed the Daily Quest button to say “Check Back Later” if the Quests are not available. The “All Quests Completed” screen will still display until the browser is refreshed.

2) Added 8 new Tarot Card treasures, 1 each to the following dungeons:

• The Devil: Abyss of Demons
• Death: Manor of the Immortals
• The Magician: Mad Lab
• The Sun: Candyland
• The World: Lair of Draconis
• The Tower: The Shatters
• The Chariot: Lair of Shaitan
• The Moon: Ocean Trench
  The Tarot Cards will be usable in a future version of Daily Quests.

A quick update
Hello everyone! A quick update: we made a soft push tonight to enable a pop up that will require you to "ACCEPT" the new Kabam Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. No official discussion thread, but please feel free to ask questions in the 23.1.0 thread.

This update officially went live at 10:30pm Pacific time, August 31st, 2014.

Edit - You'll see this when you load into the game next (or refresh) and it will pop up on the Title Screen.

Alchemist is now LIVE!

Mighty monster slayers and loot hoarders of the realm, we have excellent news for you!

[UPDATE: Daily Quests have been updated 9/20! Please note that Tokens will be removed from the Daily Quests after Sunday, 9/21 11:59 PM PST. From this point you will have 24 hours to spend your tokens before they are removed by magical forces.]

After his cosmic travels to far off places, the Alchemist has returned to the Nexus! Stop by and check out the new prizes he has in store for you! You can play with Gold or free Fortune Tokens.

How do you get Fortune Tokens? By trading in Tarot Cards in the Daily Quest! This is what the tarot cards are made for, so go nuts! Trade them in!

A few things you should know about the Alchemist:

1. He is a really nice guy. He means well, even if he can’t always make the rarest items. Alchemy is hard.
2. THE ALCHEMIST WILL CLOSE DOWN AT 11:59 PM MONDAY PST. ALL FORTUNE TOKENS WILL EVAPORATE AT THIS TIME
3. You can look forward to the next piece in our Mad God set, the Almandine Armor of Anger. Wonder what happens if you get the full set?

The 4th daily quest will allow you to trade a tarot card for a fortune token.

Does the 'Full set' include a ring?
　Yes, there is a ring. Soon! Soooooooooooooooooooooon.

In response to some of the feedback here:

About the Chariot Tarot card: You are right. We will be addressing this issue shortly.

About the Holy Water: We are constantly re-evaluating based on feedback. We wanted to find items that rounded out the list without using a lot of things like cloth or dye. Holy water has a useful function as a heal and a cleanse, and we know this item is valued among groups of players. We will keep our eye on this and see if items need to be changed. We are also in the process of creating some new items to fill this space.

About not using treasures: We want to use treasures, but at this time they are difficult to attain and newer players would have a very hard time getting some. We will be doing something with treasures regarding the alchemist very soon.
