This is the basic rules of Valiant Tactics,
It's recommended to play all the Tutorial and Mission for the new player.

Tactics Phase(TP)

TP.png
You can issue move command during the phase where you place your unit cards.

You can place a card in the placeable/deployment area.
Only cards with a cost less than the current Cost can be placed.

Ex Cost is a spare cost that can be carried over across turns.
In the above scene, your Cost is 3 and the Ex Cost is 6, so you can place cards with a cost of 3 or less for a total of 9 costs.
Cost decrease to 2/2 on the 2nd turn, 3/3 on the 3rd turn, 4/4 on the 4th turn, becomes 10/10 on the 10th turn, and continues to 10/10 after that.
Only on the first turn, you can put a high cost unit.

・Ex Cost
Half of Cost that wasn't used in that turn is turned into Ex Cost. Truncate after the decimal point.

・Time and Ex Time

The Tactic Phase time limit is 20 seconds each turn. When time is used up, the spare EX time will be consumed.
You will be given Ex Time for 90 seconds at the start of the game.
When both Time and Ex Time are used up, you're automatically switch into the Active Phase.
If you have leftover Time in the TP, 1/4 of the remaining will be added to the Ex Time.
If you think too much in the first half, you will eventually run out of time in the latter part.

Active Phase(AP)

The other phase when your units move to fight your enemy units.
The AP has a time limit of 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds, it will turn back into TP.

・Commandable Range and Searching Range
The commandable range is a range inside the blue circle around the commander. You can move your units freely as long as they are inside the blue circle.
Units that have come out of the blue circle cannot be issued move command, so it is necessary to fight around the commander to some extent.
The commander also needed in the front line because the blue circle can't reach the enemy wall if your commander stay behind.

If the circle is difficult to see, you can adjust it with the "Circle thickness/Circle density" setting.
Until you get used to it, it's recommended to use the ticker one.
The bright area around the commander is the search range. If it is difficult to differenciate, you can adjust it with the "Fog density" setting.
Each unit has its own search range and only enemies within that range can be seen.
Search range is divided into Line of Sight and Spotting Range, you can only see clearly the enemy when they enter the Line of Sight.

Winning Condition

You can win by defeating the enemy commander or destroying the enemy's wall HP.
The defeat condition is the opposite, you will lose if your commander is defeated or your wall HP reached 0.
