POLITICAL REALITIES IN ARMADILLO

アルマジロの政治情勢

ビル・ウィリアムソンとの接触はお世辞にも成功とは言い難い結果となった。諦める訳にはいかないマーストンは協力者を募ることを決意する。
ボニーの助言を聞いたマーストンは、一先ずアルマジロの保安官事務所を訪れることとした。リー・ジョンソンはこの辺りでは名の知れた敏腕保安官であり、犯罪者に詳しい彼なら何かしら情報を持っているに違いなかった。

ミッションフローチャート

ジョンソン保安官の居る事務所に向かう。
ムービー後、彼と共に町の酒場へと行く。
ウォルトンギャング団の一員がいるので、口笛で馬を呼んで乗り、彼を尾行する。攻撃はしないこと！
途中で馬を下り、徒歩で移動する。戦闘イベント開始。
指示通りにカバーを繰り返し、盗賊団を銃撃していく。
リーダーのウォルトンはそのまま殺すか、足を撃って生け捕りにするかを選べる。
生け捕りにすると、「ウォルトンギャング団の服」の切れ端4がクリアできる。
近くの死体を調べて金を回収、小屋の中や周囲にあるボックスも開けておこう。
町へ戻るには馬を使うか、キットからテントを選び、「アルマジロ」や「マクファーレン牧場」を選んで移動できる。

周辺に居る鳥やコヨーテを撃ち殺すと、チャレンジの射撃や狩猟が解放される。順次挑戦していくといい。
町に戻り、新聞を買ってもいいだろう。
保安官ミッションのJUSTICE IN PIKE'S BASIN（パイクズベイスンの制裁）が解放。

• Marston : Yes, sir. Listen, that dog ain't too bright, but he seems loyal.

• Marshal : Jonah, get out of here for a minute.

• Marshal : He's outside my jurisdiction, he's in the next county. Of course, Bill Williamson and his boys have tended to keep themselves away from my town.

• Marston : So you're happy to have him out there?

• Marshal : Well, I ain't happy, but I also ain't suicidal. My job is to keep this town safe, not clean up all of these 3 counties. It's hard enough around here.

• Marston : Ya know...I hear you speak, and suddenly I'm reminded of how some of the people I respected most in my life had a problem with authority. What's wrong with you?
  • ほう……あんたの言ってる事を聞いてたら、急に思い出したよ。お偉いさんに限って権限と問題を一緒に持ち歩いている事を。あんたの悩みは何だ？
• Marshal : Well, I'm sure you and your fine friends have enjoyed spending your time running around pursuing noble causes. My cause is to keep this town from turning into a living hell for the folks who live here. Whole world has problems, mister, and I'm here, doing what I can.
  • 俺はお前とあの連中が高貴な原因を追求して走り回りながら、自由の時間を過ごすのを楽しんでいた事を確信している(←？)。俺の目的は、連中のせいでここが住人達の生き地獄になんかなったりしない様にする事だ。問題を抱えているのは世界中どこだって同じだ。俺は此処で出来る事しか出来ない。
• Marston : Why? What's happening?
  • 何だよ。何かあったのか。
• Marshal : Right 2011-09-03 (土) 19:33:07 I got the railway, the people who pay my salary trying to get me to turn a blind eye to them burning down settlements up there.
  • 今か？　鉄道の事だ。給料を支払わなければならん労働者がいたんだが俺に無視させようとする。そこで上がっている決済をそれらに大急ぎでさせること(←？)。
• Marshal : I got a bunch of cattle rustlers out near box canyon need shutting down, not forgetting the gang that keeps murdering homesteaders out in the back country, and I got a bunch of hoods over in the saloon, drunk, threatening to shoot up the whole town. That's all I got for today, but it's early yet, give me couple more days and there'll be more.
  • 俺は牛泥棒の件で忙しい。峡谷の近くに集まってる様だが、好い加減にさせる必要がある。忘れたくないのは、こんな所じゃギャングどもが蔓延って新しく農牧をやる住人を殺害し続ける。あと、酒場で散々飲み食いして町中を脅した連中もだ。みんな今日の出来事さ。だがまだ動くのは早い。もっと厄介が起きるかも知れんからな。
• Marston : Alright, tell you what, let's go deal with them hoods, in the saloon, then we'll discuss Williamson.
  • 結構。つまり、酒場に行って、奴らとケリを付けて、その後でWilliamsonの件について話そうって事か。
• Marshal : Okay, boy. You're a persistent little cuss, ain't ya?
  • 分かったよ。しつこい奴だな。
• Marston : Only when things matter.
  • こういう時だけだ。
• Marshal : Let's head over to the saloon.
  • じゃあ早速酒場で"一杯"やろうか。
• Marston : So who we looking for?
  • で、誰とケリを付けるんだ？
• Marshal : A bunch of two-bit hoodlums, led by this fella called Walton. Goddamn road agents who prey on the stages comin' in and out of town. Drivers in Armadillo spend more time with their hands in the air than on the reins these days.
  • つまらんのギャングの群れだよ。Waltonってやつがその中心人物だ。面倒な奴らでな。町を出てたまり場に入った段階で逮捕する。アルマジロ中のドライバーは、それらの手を備えたより多くの時間を過ごします。最近、手綱上でよりも大気の中で(？)。
• Marston : And you're happy to let them drink in your saloon?
  • 町を出るまでは酒場で好き放題呑ませるのが良いって事かい?
• Marshal : Happy? No. But the way I figure it -- better they're carousin' in there than out robbin' decent folk.
  • 好き放題?いいや。だがしかし私は示す。それらは呑み騒いでいる奪う相当な人々を追い出すには。(?)
• Marston : That's an interesting approach to law enforcement.
  • そりゃ良い見せしめになるだろうよ。

They see Walton leaving the bar on horse.

• Marshal : There's the dumb rat-bastard now. Let's follow him. See what kind of hole he crawls into. Mount up, Marston. Walton's our man.
  • 口を割らせてアジトを聞き出したい。奴を尾ける。奴が何処の隠れ家に向かうか確かめる為だ。さっさと馬に乗れ。大事な獲物だ。

They start tailing him.

• Marston : If Walton's as bad as you say he is, why don't we just beef him now, while we got the chance?
  • あんたの言ってた程の悪人があいつらWaltonだったら、奴をミンチにしてやる絶好の機会じゃ無いのか？
• Marshal : Because that ain't how the law works.
  • どう出て来るとも限らんだろう。
• Marston : Is that right, Marshal?
  • 本当だろうな?
• Marshal : And alive, he can still talk.
  • 死人に口なしって事だよ。
• Marston : Doesn't sound like he's a man to be reasoned with.
  • 想像に収まる人間じゃない様に聞こえるな。
• Marshal : He ain't. But a few days of my hospitality and he'll be tellin' me what I need to know. Walton's gang's been growing fast.
  • 奴じゃない。だが数日前の俺のもてなしと俺に伝えただろう。何を知りたいか。Walton gangは今急速に力を付けて来てる。
• Marston : Outlawin's easy money for easy work.
  • 悪党なんて何をしてもしょぼいのさ。
• Marshal : Cholla Springs, Gaptooth Ridge, these boys get around. Walton's a start, but there's plenty more where he came from.

The two see Walton went to Pleasance House, but they weren't too discreet...

• Outlaw : Looks like we got company, boys!
  • 尾行されてるぞ！
• Marshal : Damn. Take cover! We'll work our way up this hill.
  • チッ、援護しろ。何とか丘を登るぞ。

Marston takes out the outlaws, then Walton, while the marshal covers him.

• Marshal : You're not a bad shot, Mr. Marston. Why don't you check in with me next time you're in town?
  • 思っていたより使えるじゃないか、Mr. Marston. 今度また町に来たら、うちで働く気は無いか？
• Marston : I don't want to be no policeman, Marshal.
  • 生憎とそういうのには興味が無くてな。
• Marshal : Nor did I, my friend, I can promise you that. I'll see you soon, Mr. Marston.
  • 気が向いたらいつでも来い。約束は守るから。また来いよ、Mr. Marston.
