Background Story
背景

The Vector is one of the oldest ships in the Human fleets. It dates back to the pre-Xyth age, where the ship was available in a large number of variations, including a scout version which served as the main ship for the Earth Protection Alliance [EPA], as well as a mining configuration that was able to maneuvre through asteroid belts and gather minerals.

Vectorはhumanの艦船で最も長く運用されている宇宙船だ。
Vectorの歴史は惑星Xythに移住する前に遡る。当時Vectorはthe Earth Protection Alliance(EPA)が標準機として使用していたスカウト仕様や、アステロイドベルトの隙間をくぐり抜けて鉱物を採取できる採掘用機など、たくさんのバリエーション機が使用されていた。

This ship was built by Alpha Shipyards [Alpha], which also built the Nagato class fighters. The design of the Vector was brought along to Xyth together with the necessary equipment to build the ships. During the early days they served as protection while the 4th Moon of Xyth base being set up. With the arrival of dedicated fighters such as the Nagato and specialized mining ships, there was less demand for the Vector. They mainly served as training craft or cheap alternatives to Nagatos. The only large scale use of these ships was in the Guards Of Xyth [GOX] defense fleet, which operated around Human-owned structures in the star system of Xyth.

VectorはNagato戦闘機をも開発したAlpha造船所によって開発された。humanは惑星Xythでの生活にもVectorの設計図と造船に不可欠な設備を持ち越した。
在りし日は、Xyth第四惑星の設営の間もVectorは防衛任務にあたっていた。
Nagatoなどの戦闘に特化した機体や鉱物収集専用機などが現れるようになるとVectorはあまり必要とされなくなってゆき、主に訓練機やNagatoの下位互換機として扱われるようになった。
Vectorが唯一大規模に運用されているのは、Xyth星系のhumanの施設の周辺に展開するthe Guards Of Xyth(GOX)の防衛艦隊の中だけとなった。

With the creation of the first combat carriers and large asteroid mining motherships, the Vector became popular again. This fighter class ship had low maintenance requirements, was easy to repair or modify and being much smaller than the Nagatos, it allowed carriers and motherships to carry them in large numbers.

初めての戦闘空母や大型のアステロイド採掘母艦が建設されてから、Vectorは再び第一線級の機体となった。
Vectorはメンテナンスをあまり必要とせず、修理や改良も簡単でNagatoより遥かに小さかったため、空母や母艦は大量に積載することができたのだ。

Technical Details
技術的仕様

The Vector supports 2 crew members (pilot and gunman or specialist) and has the following dimensions (not included extra weapons or systems) : length = 25.8 meter, width = 22.7 meter, heigth = 7.4 meter.

Vectorは2人のクルー（パイロットと砲撃手または専門家）が搭乗でき、寸法は次の通り（追加兵装・システムは含まない）：全長25.8メートル、全幅22.7メートル、全高7.4メートル。

Default weapon loadout consists of two heavy chainguns, mounted under the wings and two small pulse lasers mounted on top of the back hull.
If ship speed and maneuvering is not as important, additional weapons can be mounted. A small rocket launcher carrying 4 rockets can be placed beneath the cockpit and an extra laser turret on the underside of the back hull. If even more firepower is needed, a second chaingun can be mounted under each of the wings.

規定の兵装セットは翼下の2基の大型チェインガンと機体後方上部の2基の小型パルスレーザーからなる。
速度と機動性能が重視されないなら、追加兵装の装備にも対応する。コックピットの下には4発のロケットを搭載可能な小型ロケットランチャーを、機体後方下部には追加レーザー砲台をそれぞれ装備可能だ。
更に火力が必要なら、左右の主翼の翼下に2つ目のチェインガンを搭載できる。

By default, the Vector comes with two Warbird MK I engines. While not the most powerfull engines of their size, they are ideal for the small vector because of their very low fuel consumption and combined with the Vector's low mass, they also provided plenty of thrust.
Optionally, and preferably when additional weapons are mounted, two tuned Warbird MK II engines can be used instead. While these engines are optimized for the Nagato, with minor modifications, they perform very well on a Vector with a heavy loadout. In this case the Vector sacrifices maneuverability for more thrust.

規定ではVectorは2基のWarbird MK Ⅰ engineを搭載している。Warbird MK Ⅰ engineはこのサイズのエンジンの中では最も強力であるわけではないが、燃料消費がごく少ないので小さなVectorには理想的であり、Vectorの少ない容積を圧迫することなく十分な出力を生み出している。
追加武装を搭載するとき、任意に応じてVector用に調整したWarbird MK II engineを代わりに使うこともできる。
このエンジンはNagatoに積載されることを前提とされているが、マイナーチェンジすることで重武装のVectorでも能力を発揮することができる。
この場合、Vectorは高い出力と引き換えに機動性能を犠牲にすることになる。

The default Vector combination was the preferred setup for the Guards Of Xyth [GOX] defense fleet, while the heavier version with maximum loadout was sometimes used as support to the Nagato squadrons of the Xyth Legions [XLG].

the Guards Of Xyth(GOX)防衛艦隊は規定の装備のVectorを好んで運用し、最大限に重装備化されたVectorはthe Xyth Legions(XLG)のNagato編隊の支援機として使用されることがある。
