850,000 PS3s sold in Australia

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6262881.htmlSpeaking to GameSpot AU, Ephraim said the publisher aims to sell 1 million PS3s in Australia by the end of 2010.

"We've done pretty well considering we launched in March 2007, about a year after the Xbox 360," Ephraim said. "We are clearly on track to break the 1 million mark before the end of this year."

These latest figures may be enough to put Sony ahead of its closest competitor in the Australian market. Last month Microsoft revealed that it had sold 1 million Xbox 360s in both Australia and New Zealand but did not break down the figure country by country. Both Sony and Microsoft remain well behind market leader Nintendo, who, since January this year, stands at 1.7 million Wiis and 2.5 million DS consoles sold in Australia.

But while the PS3 seems to be doing well in the local market, Ephraim admitted that the PSP Go had not fared as well as Sony would have liked, selling 20,000 to 25,000 units in Australia since launch.

Current console install bases in Australia are as follows:
(2009末)

  • Nintendo DS: 2.5 million
  • Wii: 1.7 million
  • Xbox 360: 850,000
  • PlayStation 3: 770,000
  • PSP: 604,000
  • PlayStation 2: 2.5 million

360はオーストラリアとニュージーランドを合わせて100万台先月到達
ちなみにWiiDSは去年末でそれぞれ170万、250万を超えた

PS3 Slim outsells Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii down under

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6237473.html

Sony Australia reveals PS3 Slim console has sold "in excess of 60,000" units in the month and a half since launch, beating both the Xbox 360 and Wii for that time period.

Following the news last month that Sony sold 40,000 PlayStation 3 Slim units in the console’s first two and a half weeks in the Australian market, it appears the publisher has something to smile about yet again.

The latest sales figures from Sony indicate the AU$499 PS3 Slim has now sold “in excess of 60,000 units” in Australia, outselling both the Xbox 360 and the Wii since its Australian launch on September 3.

“I can confirm that in excess of 60,000 units of the PS3 120GB have been sold since launch,” a Sony spokesperson said. “I can also confirm that since the launch of the new model on September 3 [in Australia], total sales for the period since introduction have outperformed our competition.”

Sony also reported that despite low PSP Go sales of just over 1,000 units during launch week, the new console uplifted sales for the PSP platform as a whole in Australia.

“The PSP Go launch week resulted in a solid first week volume uplift of 100 percent for the PSP platform as a whole in Australia; this also includes PSP-3000 sales and PSP software sales. Strong IP lined up for the PSP platform has assisted this.”

Sony also announced today that it will be bringing back its popular Bravia LCD TV promotion; the promotion will offer a free PS3 Slim to customers who buy a Bravia LCD TV (W5500 series, WE5 series, Z5500 series, EX1 series, ZX1 series, and XBR series) from Thursday, October 22 until the 25,000 PS3 Slim consoles available for the deal run out.

Sony has added that those who partake in the promotion will have guaranteed delivery by Christmas.

Sony’s PS3 continues to remain in third place behind the Xbox 360 and Wii in overall sales down under.

One million 360s sold in Australia, NZ

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/1vs100/news.html?sid=6258966
The latest salvo in the console arms race down under was fired today, with Microsoft confirming that the Xbox 360 has now reached over 1 million units sold across Australia and New Zealand.

While the software giant released its combined sales mark for the Xbox 360 across the two countries, it did not provide a breakdown per nation. The last time Microsoft revealed its figures by country was in June 2009, when it said that 630,000 Xbox 360s had been sold in Australia and 80,000 in New Zealand. GameSpot AU has contacted Microsoft Australia for more detail but has not received a comment as of time of publication.

In Australia, the Wii is still the sales leader, with the Nintendo console also reaching the coveted 1 million sold mark. The last time Sony updated its figures, the PlayStation 3 had moved over 770,000 units and interestingly outsold the Xbox 360 in Australia last year.

Microsoft Australia has also launched its latest auction of special-edition consoles for charity. Celebrities like Kelly Rowland, Russell Crowe, and Hugh Jackman have had their images airbrushed onto consoles for auction, with all proceeds going to the David Peachey Foundation.

Q3

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6180457.html

Nintendo DS highest-selling games device in Australia in Q3; PS3 the lowest
More than 140,000 DS' sold down under between July-September; PS3 at the bottom of the sales charts.

Nintendo’s recent hardware dominance has seen its share price reach record highs, and it seems that Aussies haven't been immune to the House of Mario's resurgence. New figures from industry tracker GfK Australia show that Nintendo had the highest selling portable games device (the DS) and the highest-selling next-gen console (the Wii) down under in the last three months, easily eclipsing Sony and Microsoft.

The Nintendo DS was by far and away the highest-selling games device in Australia between the start of July and the end of September, selling close to 140,000 units. The DS sales figure of 139,483 units is almost five times that of its nearest equivalent, the PlayStation Portable, which sold 28,374 in the same time period.

The Nintendo Wii is also the clear leader in the next-gen console stakes, selling 61,027 units in July-September. The Xbox 360 sold 40,467 units in the same time period, while Sony's PlayStation 3 sold 27,533. Sony's newest console may be lagging somewhat, but its last-gen device--the PS2--is still going strong in Australia, with its third quarter sales of 66,228 enough to make it the second most popular games device in the country for that time period.

GfK Australia also released the latest install base figures for Australian gaming devices this afternoon. In next-gen consoles, the Xbox 360 is still in the lead, with 222,136 owners down under since launch. The Wii is quickly catching up, however, with a total of 167,899 units altogether. The PS3 has had 82,261 devices sold so far. In Australia, the 360 was first launched in March 2006, the Wii in December 2006, and the PS3 in March 2007.

Halo 3 unsurprisingly tops the Weekly Aussie Charts (Sept 30th)

Posted by Daniel Vuckovic on 10.05.07
This weeks Highlights: Surprise Surprise guess what game is number one for the last wee? Halo 3? You guessed right! Super Paper Mario sticks in there and as predicted Heavenly Sword drops to 10 with the smaller PS3 user base unable to prop it up. The most interesting thing is the hardware though, according to Screenplay - the week before Halo 3 was released, figures show that 3894 Xbox 360 consoles were sold. However for the week of Halo that number rose 55% a small increase for hardware considering 70,000 units of the game where sold. Full Chart Listing Inside
